Hans Holbein, the younger

A German painter and designer, and one of the greatest portrait artists of his era. By 1515, Holbein was working as a print designer in Basel, but was soon occupied as a portrait artist and decorator. He spent much of his career in Basel, with stints in Lucerne and London. Holbein created the famous woodcut border for Münster’s world map.
